My class is going nuts! I already broke up a fight between two female 8th grade students!

Apparently, the two girls were exchanging "dirty looks," and the the fisticuffs started. I broke up the fight, during which I thought my existence was in jeopardy.

Both will be suspended.

"If all you ever do is all you've ever done, then all you'll ever get is all you've ever got," is what Margaret Spellings said when talking about American schools and how we have to meet the educational challenges presented against global competition. (NYTimes)

Naomi Klien, the world reknown journalist and author, was interviewed yesterday (4/24/05) by Bob McChesney on Media Matters, McChesney's program on the marriage of mainstream media to corporations.

"The Rise of Disaster Capitalism," an article by Klien, now appears in the May 2, 2005 issue of The Nation.

"The Take" is a documentary movie about workers taking over their factory after the company pillages it; Klien is involved in that with Avi Lewis.

Take a listen to the great conversation between McChesney and Klien, two of the best current thinkers on media and "the alternate news," reporting on the important news stories that's not being reported on today.

A band practiced for the first time yesterday (Sunday, 4/22/05), had a barbecue (carne asada, pollo asada and smoked ahi), and went for drinks at the Whistle Stop.

Everything tasted good.

the above image is of the cannibal of germany.

isn't it a fine representation of how your typical cannibal would look like?

admit it, you looked at his teeth for an extra moment; perhaps thinking if you could see any remnanats of his last meal.

The U.S. Secret Service paid a visit to my alma mater, Columbia College Chicago, to view the exhibit "Axis of Evil: The Secret History of Sin."

At question is the piece that shows a revolver to the head of George W. Bush.

Inside Higher Ed reports that
Secret Service agents asked the gallery’s director for the phone numbers of all 47 artists in the show, and the director refused, a Columbia spokeswoman said. The agents then took photographs of the art and left.

Jonathan Cherry, a spokesman for the Secret Service, said that the agents acted after receiving a complaint from a private citizen. "The Secret Service certainly respects artistic freedom, but we must look into exhibits when necessary," Cherry said. He said he was not sure if the investigation was complete, and stressed that "we haven’t confiscated anything."

Micki Leventhal, the college’s spokeswoman, said that officials there would defend the gallery’s right to hold the exhibit. "We support freedom of speech and we stand for academic freedom," she said.

The new Apple Garageband 2 digital music recording software is a lot more stable than the previous version. Version 1 used to lock-up or crash when used with my Motu 828 audio interface.

The one key feature that I like best is the ability to lock tracks -- rendering the track to the hard drive thus freeing up processor power.

The project I'm working on now is a multi-media concept DVD on the life and time of Alexander Von Humboldt.
