At The Poor Man Cafe an entry posted by "The Editors" states: white folks are leaders that leave much to be desired.

(White people) have got to deal with this problem on our own, and stop making excuses. We have to stop thinking up conspiracy theories about how Saddam’s WMD are going to turn up any minute and how al Qaeda was supported by Iraq. This not only prevents us from dealing with the problem, it makes it worse. We have to look at the problems in our community, and figure out why we are so fucking crazy. Our children wear dumb clothing and listen to dreadful music about Satan or some shit. As adults we obsess about what our choice of wine says about us and pay $1,000s extra for an SUV because it says “Eddie Bauer” on the back

Technology doesn't suck... people do.

George Bush publicly stated this week that anybody in his administration who's convicted of a crime, as in the case of Valerie Plame Wilson's outing as a CIA operative, will no longer be part of his administration. In other words fired.

In a New York Times article Elaine Kaplan, formerly of the Federal Office of Special Counsel, commented on the threshold federal employees are held to when allegations concerning the divulgence of classified information is involved: "Government employees and officials who are negligent with classified information can lose their jobs for carelessness. They don't have to be convicted of intentionally disseminating the information. Crime has never been the threshold. That's not the standard that applies to rank-and-file federal employees. They can be fired for misconduct well short of a crime."

Karl Rove will survive this one because his boss' loyalty to him outweighs national security interest.

George Bush's well documented strengths, friendship and loyalty, are in this case his achilles heel.

I came across this really good audio slide show narrated by MER's principal investigator, Steve Squyres.

During 2004 the Mars rover missions really held my attention. The fact we humans landed a spacecraft--more like robots--on another planet and beaming images back to Earth was absolutely fascinating. As time rolls on and the spectacle faded, my interest in the MER mission faded along with. I did, however, found the time to read a few of the email updates JPL/NASA regularly sent me, but immersion in the mission definitely wasn't there. The slide show recaps where each rover landed, what the expectations scientist had for the landing sites, what actually was discovered, and theories on the discoveries.

If you're a Mars freak, like I, you will find this recap excellent.

The last time, prior to now, that the mainstream media reported on a rash of sharks attacking humans (2440 entries at news.google.com) was September 10, 2001.

According to my research using Proquest.com, an online information service that provides access to thousands of current periodicals and newspapers, there were over 300 newspaper articles written on sharks attacking humans during September 1-10, 2001. There were less than 25 articles written on shark attacks between September 11-30, 2001.

Could a major terrorist attack on the United States be on the horizon?
